Academic Interests Myoung-Woon Moon and his collaborators
are interested in thin film mechanics and surface modification on soft and
hard substrates. Two categories of on going research
interest are efforts to analyze the thin film failure known as buckling based
mechanics of various film-substrate structures and to fabricate the nano-dimensional channel using
buckling patterning or FIB system. He has also deeply involved
in the surface instability such as wrinkle, ripple, dot, or other
nanostructures, arise in the system of stiff skin (metal film) on soft
polymeric substrate induced by external or intrinsic stress or strain.
Currently he and his colleagues are working on the manipulation of various
polymer surfaces (such as, PI, PDMS,PC, PP, PE,
PLGA, PUA, and etc) for nano-structure
evolution, wettability control, and related surface properties for the
applications on energy and environment issues. Thin Film Mech |
